From the 100-foot tall steeple which tops off this unique structure to the imposing antique wooden pulpit imported from a church in England, the Colonial Chapel at the American Village provides a one-of-a-kind wedding experience. The building is patterned after one of the oldest churches in America, Bruton Parish Church of Williamsburg, Virginia. Inside the Colonial Chapel, rays of a late afternoon sunset filter through arched windows. Reminiscent of those lovely tradition-filled chapels of early America, the chapel can seat more than 200 guests in the rich wooden-paneled box seating and old-fashioned pews. Colonial polished brass chandeliers cast a gentle glow of period lighting, accenting the chapel's tasteful interior.

There are several wonderful reception locations to choose from within the 113-acre site. The American Village’s historic barn is newly renovated and has all the modern amenities you need with the rustic charm you want. Alternately, Liberty Hall is a traditionally elegant ballroom with cut-glass chandeliers and dark-stained hardwood floors. This room was patterned after The East Room of The White House. There are also large open green spaces available for tent set-ups.

Wedding ceremonies may be held on the Veranda, which is located in front of the hotel. The fee is $500, chairs not included in rental price.

The Ridgely Ballroom is perfect for receptions. This room can accommodate seating for guests, buffet area, full-service bar, entertainment of your choice and an area for dancing. Your wedding cake and groom's cake can be placed in the same room, or each in their own side rooms with gourmet coffee stations. The Ballroom rental fee is $1500. You may open the floor plan of your reception with the use of the first floor function space, which includes the Lindbergh and Tutwiler Rooms in conjunction with the Ridgely Ballroom for a total of $2000.

Couples who book their reception at the Tutwiler receive a fabulous Romance Package for the wedding night at no additional charge! Garden weddings may be held at a garden site or in the pavilion. Sites will accommodate from 3 to 200 people. The arbor, shade garden lawn and pavilion are located at the front of Aldridge House and provide a beautiful backdrop of hydrangeas, azaleas, and seasonal plants and shrubs for weddings. Lakeside, woodland stream and patio wedding sites offer the sights and sounds of water, hydrangeas, and seasonal plants and shrubs and are located at the back of Aldridge House.

History:
The area that is now home to the Aldridge Botanical Gardens is was once the home of Eddie and Kay Aldridge. The Aldridge family had owned the local nursery, dating back to Eddie's father, Loren Aldridge, for whom the botanical gardens are named. The Aldridge Botanical Gardens now occupy 30 acres of the Aldridge estate, showcasing some of the most beautiful and fragrant plants that Hoover, Alabama, has to offer.

As the story goes, Eddie Aldridge first glimpsed the current site of the Botanical Gardens in 1966. At that time, the location was the property of the Coxe family, who had hired the Aldridge family nursery to plant three magnolia trees on the property. Having been raised from childhood in an environment that nurtured and appreciated nature's wonders, Eddie instantly saw the beauty of the landscape, and immediately remarked that the property would be the ideal location for a park or botanical garden.

More than a decade later, the Coxe family decided to sell the property. Remembering how impressed he was with the landscaping, Aldridge wasted no time in putting an offer on the table, and the land became the Aldridge estate. But for Eddie, simply owning the land was not enough. Aldridge felt that property this beautiful should be developed, sculpted and shared with the public. As such, acquiring the land was the first in a long series of steps towards creating what we now know as the Aldridge Botanical Gardens.

While the Aldridge Botanical Gardens are surrounded by lush forests and calming streams, the greatest impression for first time visitors is often made by the large assortment of hydrangeas. In fact, the Aldridge family has always maintained a reputation for being leading experts on the hydrangea. Eddie's father has even been credited with the discovery of the Snowflake Hydrangea, which can be found in abundance across the Aldridge Botanical Gardens.

The Zoo Lodge is a rustic stone house nestled in the woods that will accommodate approximately 50 people for a meeting or seated dinner and 85 for a reception (indoors). The patio and lawn may be used also for an outdoor event or to accommodate larger attendance (approx 200). In addition to the main event space inside, the Lodge has a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a small side room perfect for the bride's dressing room. There is a large outdoor fireplace which serves as a gorgeous ceremony backdrop, and the patio is an ideal location for a band to setup. The Avon Theater was built in the early 1900's. After the building was abandoned and sat vacant for years, the Red Mountain Church purchased and renovated the theater and it is now utilized as their meeting place for Sunday worship. The Theater is a big open room with a large elevated platform on one end that can double as a stage for your ceremony and for your reception entertainment. The exposed brick and built-in accent lighting give this space a rustic modern feel.

Old Car Heaven has got a serious old school vibe! If you'd like a swanky 1920's/1930's flavor for your event, no doubt you should consider Old Car Heaven.

It's an antique car museum located in a warehouse setting, under the 35th Street Bridge on 1st Ave South. And it's got tons of retro appeal. What used to be a loading dock is now a stage and dance floor, and sitting at the elegant martini bar will make you think you've stepped back in time.

The entire facility offers 46,000 square feet of event space and can accommodate up to 1,500 guests! There are three event spaces inside the venue. The main space features a stage, large seating area for up to 800 of your closest friends and family, and the ultra-cool Art-Deco lounge area with a vintage oak and block-glass bar. There are also 2 satellite bars in this room, which are housed inside 1920's era Chrysler delivery vehicles. Friendly bartenders serve up refreshing libations with names like the "Back Seat", "Lube Job", "AntiFreeze" and "Stop Light".

The rear warehouse is where you will find most of the owner's collection of 113 Classic American automobiles, which includes many makes and models from the 1920's through the 1970's by manufacturers such as Chrysler, Packard, and Monteverdi.. The unique American cars are on display inside the warehouse, and there is a big space in the middle for you and up to 400 guests to dine, mix, and mingle. Old Car Heaven offers the option of customizing the automobile display to fit your particular theme, and also offer several of the vehicles for rent. The 2,000 square foot mezzanine overlooks the main display space and is a perfect spot for a VIP lounge or a more intimate setting for smaller events (under 100 guests).

The restrooms are large and updated nicely. Long countertops leave room for you to place candles, flowers, or bathroom baskets, ect.

This Spanish Colonial Revival home was originally designed and decorated by a Dallas architect and an artist commissioned by the first owner, Robert C. Bundy. The estate is approximately five acres, with the two-story brick house sporting a terra cotta tile roof. The entryway is turreted, and there are multiple patios and terraces surrounding the house. Interior feature include: large rooms designed for entertaining; multiple murals and original stained glass windows reflecting a Spanish theme; textured walls; a grand staircase; a bedroom balcony overlooking the living room; many arches and columns; tile flooring and original tile scenes accenting the fireplaces. Today, the house remains a restored Birmingham landmark. Current resident and owner Brenda Jones has renamed the estate Gabrella Manor in honor of her grandmother. The house sits at the outer edge of the Roebuck Springs Historic District and is used as a meeting place for events such as weddings, receptions and anniversaries.

This elegant, stunning space is perfect for seated dinners as well as buffets. The lobby is crowned with the spectacular installation, Birmingham Persian Wall, created especially for this space by glass artist Dale Chihuly.

Cafe

The spacious and inviting Cafe overlooks the Charles W. Ireland

Sculpture Garden and is framed at either end by dramatic floor to ceiling windows. Shades may be lowered for slide and/or video presentations.

The Lobby may be used in conjunction with the Cafe
for larger receptions of up to 650 people.

"While interning at the Museum, I have come to learn that a big part of the Museum staff’s job is assisting people in the community with their special events. This happens to be of particular interest to me because I recently had a very special event at the Museum—my wedding reception. My overall experience was so pleasant that I feel encouraged to share my story.
When planning a wedding, it is easy to feel flustered, especially when you realize there are hundreds of decisions to make! One decision was simple for me, however; I knew where I wanted to have my reception. Having been an Art History major in college, my love of art brought me directly to the Museum. After a walk through with Brynne MacCann, the Facilities Special Events Coordinator, it became even more apparent that the location was perfect. The Museum lends itself beautifully to any ideas a bride might have. Whether the event is large or small, there is a way to make it work at the Museum. Whenever there was a concern, the Museum staff was beyond helpful, and every time I did a walkthrough, I became more and more excited. I also had the best time tasting the food and preparing the menu. A Social Affair worked with me to prepare a menu that perfectly suited my taste.
All in all, my experience can be summed up in one word: perfect! The combination of the magnificent art, delicious food, and the beautiful building itself made for the perfect backdrop to a very memorable evening. I would strongly encourage any bride to consider the Museum for her special day!"

The Members Room, located adjacent to the Museum's Cafe, this charming, intimate space is ideal for luncheons, showers, meetings, birthday celebrations, and small dinner receptions.

Strange Auditorium $500
Named in honor of Ruth B. Strange and dedicated in 1988, the Strange Auditorium is the most versatile room imaginable. On any given day, the room may be pressed into service to host classes, lectures, meetings, art exhibits, luncheons, wedding receptions, fund raising dinners, charity auctions and craft shows. Each year over a dozen flower shows are staged, ranging from Camellias and Ferns, to Roses and Standard Garden Club Shows; most are free and the public is encouraged to attend. An adjoining full kitchen and prep room are available when renting the Strange Auditorium. The Hodges Room, named in honor of Frances Spain Hodges and dedicated in 1972, is useful for small- to medium-sized meetings and activities, especially when visual and physical access to the out-of-doors is desired. The lush, secluded Rushton Garden, with its café seating and rushing waterfall, is just outside. The carpeted Hodges Room is often rented along with the Strange Auditorium, combining to make a gracious setting for a large affair.

Overlooking the Blount Plaza, the Ireland Room has been a popular and multi-functional room for nearly twenty years. Given in memory of Katherine Ireland by her mother, Mrs. C. Barney Ireland, and her brothers, William Reynolds and Glenn Ireland II, it features a stylish white oak parquet floor, crystal chandeliers and display cases housing our collection of Boehm porcelain birds. This room provides a gracious setting for numerous activities. Banquet seating for 80 guests is available. In addition, an adjacent small prep kitchen and service elevator access to a full kitchen on the first floor make catered meals easy. The Ireland Room is often rented along with the East Room, just across the lobby. Take your activity outside by adding the Hill Garden, accessible directly over the Plaza Bridge and through the Belvedere.

East Room $200
The East Room is a comfortable, carpeted room for small- to medium-sized meetings and activities. Like most of our other rooms that are available for rentals, multiple seating arrangements are easily accommodated. The East Room overlooks the Blount Plaza and sits across the lobby from the Ireland Room. These two rooms are often rented together, and in conjunction with the Hill Garden, which is easily accessible from the Plaza Bridge and Belvedere just outside.

Located in Columbiana, the 4-H Center has a beautiful open air chapel that seats 200. There is also a pavilion with views of Lay Lake and a new auditorium. The chapel and pavilion both have lighting for evening events and many additional power sources available for your lights and A/V equipment. There is lighting leading up the path to the chapel, but there is no lighting outside of the pavilion, so you should provide lanterns or luminarias to guide your guests to their cars if your event will take place after dark. The pavilion also has attached restrooms and a storage room with a refrigerator and deep freezer. There are no counters in the restrooms, so if you want to do bathroom baskets, you will need to bring a small table to put in there. The 4H Center has 6ft banquet tables and chairs for your use included in the rental prices. Chairs are white plastic folding variety; these are nice, but not the typical "wedding" chairs. They are a bit larger than normal folding chairs. Tablecloths may be rented from the 4H Center, they are not floor length but they are still very nice. If you want to rent table skirts for these tables, note that the clips normally used to attach them to the table will not fit (found that out the hard way). Doublesided fabric tape will work however (look for it at Walmart in the sewing section, it is called "Res-Q Tape" - it's a good thing). The staff is easy to work with and helpful.

Rosewood is a beautiful old plantation style estate on 11 acres located in Pinson. Ceremonies are held outdoors in the garden or inside a large tent on the large side lawn. Rosewood is a full service wedding facility.

The following information is from the Rosewood website:

The original owner of the property, Mrs. R.E. Smith, named the estate Rosewood Farms because of the beautiful roses that were grown on the property. The house has a formal living room, dining room, parlor, butlers pantry and a large banquet room. The swing set in the side yard has been in place for over seventy years for the enjoyment of the children who grace Rosewood with their presence.
The house features beautiful crystal chandeliers that date back more than seventy five years. The parlor has a secret hiding place in the bookcase that was undoubtedly used for hiding important documents and probably family money. The front rooms of the house have gorgeous original hardwood floors. Rosewood has a total of four fireplaces. The unique front door is actually a “goat door”, with the top opening separate from the bottom. It is surrounded by original leaded glass. The window treatments in the living room are antique and very unusual. They were rescued from an estate home in the Bessemer area. The furnishings in the downstairs and the Bridal room are antique and handpicked for the home. The construction of the house is still sound today due to the wonderful craftsmanship of yesteryear. All of the ceilings and floors are tongue and groove heart of pine.

In May of 2006 Billy and Renee Mikell purchased Rosewood with the dream of holding weddings, receptions, anniversary parties, teas, etc., in this wonderful old estate. They immediately began renovations and major landscaping to once again have roses scattered around the property. They restored the old lily pond, cleared property and built a beautiful natural rock wall for one of the several ceremony areas planned for the venue. They have beautifully illuminated Rosewood, complete with chandeliers hanging from the hundred plus year old trees. They have plans in the future to build a replica of an old wedding chapel in the pasture area of the estate.

• Rosewood has a fifty guest minimum.

• We can accommodate up to 250 guests for an outdoor ceremony.

• Rosewood has a plentiful, lighted parking area.

• Rosewood does not allow outside catering. Catering service is provided complete with custom made cakes in a variety of flavors.

• We offer the convenience of hosting the rehearsal dinners here at Rosewood. A rehearsal dinner is traditionally the groom’s night. We can create a themed event to match his personality. Pricing can be requested via email.

• A wedding director ensures that your event will go smoothly and is required here at Rosewood regardless of the size of the wedding party. Our director helps with planning your ceremony, selection of music, and your program arrangement. One hour of rehearsal and pre-ceremony time in addition to the ceremony time is included. The price for our director is $175.00. This is to be paid 2 weeks prior to the rehearsal and the check is to be made payable to the director. Payment can be made here at Rosewood and we can forward it to the director.

• Smoking is prohibited at Rosewood except for a designated smoking area outside. This policy is strictly adhered to. Your damage deposit could be forfeited if this policy is violated.

• Our cake cutting service is offered at no additional charge to you. We also have toasting flutes and silver cake knives available for your use at no charge.

• Fresh flower petals are approved for throwing and bubbles look beautiful in pictures. Sparklers have to be pre-approved according to the weather. (no birdseed, rice, silly string, etc.)
• Our in-house sound system is available to play the CD’s of your choice during your event. There are speakers located in each room. We also have a sound system located on the grounds outdoors. You can set the mood of your ceremony the moment your guests walk onto the grounds of Rosewood. (Our system is not compatible with D.J. or band sound systems)

• You may arrive up to three hours before ceremony time for photographs. (extra time can be arranged if necessary)

• We offer the convenience of floral design here at Rosewood. After booking your event, we will arrange a meeting with our floral designer, Tracy Sloan. One half of the floral charges are due at booking with the remainder to be paid three weeks prior to the event. All floral payments are to be made directly to Ms. Sloan.

• Photography and D.J. services are not provided by Rosewood. We will happily recommend vendors to accommodate your needs in these areas and can coordinate these services for you if needed. Our recommended vendors do a wonderful job with very reasonable prices.

• We can provide an officiate if you have need of one.

• Because we are basically an outdoor facility, we have a 30x60 ft pole tent that seats 200 guests for a ceremony that is included in the venue rental. Tenting is a very elegant look for your event and is wonderful to have in case of inclement weather. Pole draping for center pole and exterior poles are included. We also include 6 beautiful chandeliers in the venue rental fee. Other tent lighting is available for an additional charge. There is a $150.00 set up fee required for the tent.

• We have a 12x12 dance floor that is available for rental.

• A non-refundable deposit of $1000.00 is required at the time of booking your event. Half of your balance is due 3 months before your date. The remainder of your balance must be paid 3 weeks prior to your event. A payment schedule can be set up for your convenience. Final payment later than 3 weeks before your event, will be subject to an additional charge of 5%, to be received before your event can take place.

• A refundable damage deposit of $500.00 is also required at the time of booking your event. Any additional charges for surprise guests will be deducted from this deposit before the refund is given. This will be refunded within 14 days of your event if no damage to property here at Rosewood occurs.

We serve Southern style food here at Rosewood and are open to suggestions for your menu. If there is a particular item that you would like to serve, please let us know and we will price it appropriately for you.

1. Do I need an appointment to tour the WorkPlay facility?

Yes, we do prefer to have an appointment with you when you visit with us. Our tours are very informative and you will learn more than you would know to ask about without a guide.

2. How many spaces do you have to rent at WorkPlay?

WorkPlay has 5 spaces for rentals: The Theatre, The Soundstage, The Canteen, The Bar, and The Conference Room.

3. What about caterers?

WorkPlay works with a list of preferred caterers who have been chosen by us because of their excellent reputations and exceptional customer service. Please click on the "Catering" button to see the list.

4. Do you have your own bar service?

Yes, WorkPlay is an ABC licensed facility and is responsible for all alcohol served on the premises.

5. Where is the parking for WorkPlay?

WorkPlay has a parking lot that accommodates 35-40 vehicles, and there is street parking as well. You may hire our valet service also.

6. What A/V equipment do you have available?

The WorkPlay Theatre has 2 video screens to choose from, a LCD Data projector, CD/DVD/Cassette/DAT players, and the connection for a laptop. The Theatre is also equipment with microphones, wireless and handheld, a podium and access to the internet. The Soundstage Canteen and Bar does not have A/V equipment; however, we can rent it for an additional charge for your event. All of WorkPlay is WIFI.

This former Masonic Temple built in 1914 has been lovingly restored back to it's original charm. Woodrow Hall has natural beauty.

In the big ballroom (holds up to 350) you will find exposed brick walls and silk drapes, colorful Up-Lights (you can set the color) to accent the space and large wooden beams accenting high ceilings.
